Fort Island IJmuiden is part of The Defence Line of Amsterdam and is a Unesco World Heritage Site.
The Defence Line, consisting of 42 forts, was built around 1885 as a defensive stronghold of our capital city. The IJmuiden fort is the largest and most unique part of The Defence Line.
The Fort stands on a 4-hectare island in the mouth of the North Sea Canal. The extensive corridor system, more than 40 rooms, the impressive domed hall and PBN (team) activities, make the Fort Island a challenging and above all unique meeting and event location.
